Default Good MM Build for Olias

Well, its just that I cannot make Olias a good MM if I use the same build as I use myself when I go as MM.

He doesn't heal his minions enough, they die and there are no more corpses around to raise more minions.

So... which build is good for Olias? which one you all use?

Thanks

You just gotta keep his skillbar open and activate a spell yourself for him once in awhile. he actually has been pretty effective for me when i ignore what he's doing.

My Olias is using Blood of the Master, and he seems to have no probs at all activating it when needed. he's got Shambling Horror, Bone Fiend and Flesh Golem. I forget the other skills off the top of my head...

Fiend + Horror + Blood of the Master should be enough
Signet of Lost Souls
a couple of Blood (OoP, BR) or Motivation (group energy) or Domination (interrupts) skills
Rez Sig

Elite : doesn't really matter, but the golem is a poor choice imho. Use this elite slot to fill what the group needs. Decent default candidates: Icy Veins for extra damage. Order of Undeath if you're that far. Offering of Blood if you see him struggle with energy (for instance if he has to spam Order of Pain).

I use the new elite um Jagged bones or whatever. When minion dies, creates new bleeding minion. I use shambling horror and regular bone horror. Basically, I don't let him bother healing, and instead just let him keep letting them die from degen while he can keep up an infinite amount most of the time from the same minions. I gave him the dark bond so they take damage for him to try to prevent deaths. I also tried death nova, but in the end it messed up with his elite casting and would use it out of battle.

I've been using

Virulence (E) -- goes great with my two Searing Flames nukers
Animate Vampiric Horror
Animate Bone Fiends
Dark Bond
Blood of the Master
Verata's Sacrifice
Glyph of Lesser Energy (since both Animates are 25 energy cost, and he can't swap to a high energy/low regen set)
Rez Sig

I have to press the minion heals for him a few times, but he uses them himself a lot too, and otherwise seems to do well. Generally, he has lots of live minions, so I think it's going pretty well.

Not sure what your skill setup is, but I've never seen this problem. I've sat there for like 10 minutes and they wouldn't die. I had to manually disable BotM and flag him away from the rest of the party to kill off his minions so I could charm pets without them attacking. My olias is set to aggessive so maybe he's more willing to sac health? I don't know. Heard that if you put a skill more towards the left of your bar that they get a higher priority but I haven't noticed this myself. My BotM is somewhere 3-5, can't remember. Still, might be worth a try.

Jagged Bones
Death Nova
Well of Suffering
Taste of Death
Animate Fiends
Deathly Swarm
Signet of Lost Souls
Res Sig

Could probly make him N/Mo with a hard res because the boots do reduce casting on res.
Supress well of suffering use manually when needed. Deathly swarm is good dmg.

No need to keep the fiends alive. Jagged Bones just makes more. Fiends dying also feed his energy.

Jagged Bones is the elite to use, the AI is pretty good with it. The only problem is the terrible broken AI on Shambling and Jagged Horrors.

I've been running:
Jagged Bones
Animate Shambling Horror
Animate Bone Fiend
Blood of the Master
Signet of Lost Souls
Deathly Swarm
Vile Miasma
Resurrection Signet

With obvious attributes. The AI handles the bar reasonably well, the only skill I think it really underuses is Blood of the Master.

Peace,

Death Nova is great on a hero, because unlike a PC, an NPC has no problem whatsoever targeting his minions.

I use Consume Corpse on him as well. Nice emergency heal (you don't want your MM dying on you) and energy mgt, even though it costs a corpse.

Here's a MM build I've been using for Olias that has worked well for me.

Attributes

Death Magic 12+1+3 (16)
Soul Reaping 12+1 (13)

Jagged Bones
Animate Bone Horror
Animate Shambling Horror
Blood of the Master
Putrid Flesh
Death Nova
Signet of Lost Souls
Ressurection Signet

Works pretty decent, you got -4 degen from disease using putrid flesh, -4 from poison using death nova and -3 from bleeding if there's a jagged horror present.

I'm running Virulence + Shambling Horror, works nicely. Icy Veins and Reaper's mark are good for the elite, as well.

I often add interupts to my caster heros. Always on Monks and Elemenatlists. Great idea. But usually I do not put that on my necro.

If your character is a Derv, let me tell you something simple that blows everything away.
I use:
Minion
Minion
Order of Pain
Dark Bond
Blood of the Master
Sig of Lost Souls
Resurrect
Golemn

Actually, not sure that I like Golemn. Others here has suggested not using it. As its AI-PVE, I leave out Resurrect (I mention it above to be Politically Correct).

Now, for the other two heros (this is general world - non-mission activity), I take either Meloni and someone else. Meloni has Command at 5 points and has "Go for the Eyes", so she constantly gives the minions about +50% chance to crit. That's huge. Koss and the archer can be skilled similarly.

If I'm in a mission or a more difficult area, I take a monk hero and give spells that are more efficient with enchants: Healing Light and Dwana's Kiss, pluss Reversal of Fortune and maybe Aegis. Excellent if the party has 3 Dervs.

Key here Order of Pain is another "party enchant". So is Aegis. These "party" enchants and enchant-efficient heals go GREAT with a Derv player, with Meloni, and with the Derv hench because Dervs gain energy anytime the enchants end, and help power attacks like Mystic Sweep. And help with spike healing from Pios Signet. Help the Dervs with many things actually.

If not the monk hero, I generally take Searing Elementalist or the paragon hero.

Personally, I'd drop Deathly Swarm for Dark Bond, and Vile Miasma for any of the death based self-heals. But that's just me personally, the core of the build is right on the money.

I'd also consider going N/Mo and replacing Rez Sig with Vengeance...
